Pete Corner (彼得西餐)

On a cozy Sunday afternoon, we decided to take a break from our usual eat-away to try out something different.. How about western food in the different side of town? If you're looking for home-made western cuisine in Menglembu, look no further than Pete Corner, which has been opening since more than a decade ago.

). Located in the middle of two rows of shop lots in Taman Rasi Jaya.

). A very well-ventilated open-air restaurant, not exactly the most spacious one, but it's a wonderful place for a family gathering.

). Owned by an awarding-winning chef, Peter Chong, which is operating from 11am to 9pm. Its kitchen has an open-air concept too, therefore your body and clothes will be covered with cooking smoke unfortunately.

). As the name suggested, let's start off with something Light and Simple (RM3.30)! A few slices of slightly grilled bread with ham and melted cheese in between. A fairly simple dish to make, yet tasted so appetizing.

). Being one and only spaghetti on the menu, let's give the Spaghetti with Meat Sauce (RM6.00) a try! The sauce is freshly made with sliced tomato and minced meat, tasted like Bolognese Spaghetti but the portion is a bit too small though.

). With a wide variety of fish dishes on the menu, I decided to take on the Fish & Chips (RM10.50). Decently fried fish fillet with a slice of lemon and Tartar sauce provided as usual. The fish tasted wonderful with the Tartar sauce, but once again the portion is all too "generous" I can say..

). There are a few signature chicken dishes on menu, Black Pepper Chicken (RM10.50) seems fairly ordinary though. To my astonishment, credit has to be given to the sauce, which tasted pretty nice, not too spicy yet still can taste the pepper seed.

). A fairly unique dish on the menu, which is Cheese-baked Chicken Chop (RM12.50). Unlike Chicken Cordon-Bleu, the cheese is placed on top, not within. However, the slice of cheese is not melted enough to integrate its flavour with the chicken chop though.

). The next dish to come is mutton, named Special Grill Lamb Chop (RM13.00). To my disappointment, although the name suggested special, it's just a grilled lamb chop minus any sauce! How does it differ with the normal Grilled Lamb Chop on the name?! The layout of all their western dishes are similar with french fries, coleslaw, slices of tomato and cucumber.

). The last and the most anticipated dish is the Mixed Grill (RM28.00). I like to have something out of every meat on the menu (except seafood of course). It is the most pricey dish on the menu and consists of bacon, ham, lamb, chicken, steak, coleslaw and french fries. The grilled lamb is topped with black pepper sauce, chicken and steak are topped with special gravy. Yummy, this is the most satisfying dish of all!

). As the slogan suggested, probably you'll feel love at first bite! Not one of the high class western restaurant in town, but definitely one of the favourite family get-away restaurant!
